We have 31 brood jennets that we breed approxiamately every other year. Their heights range from 28" to 33½" with an average height of 31½". We have 16 young jennets that will not be bred until they are 3 years or older. As these young jennets are added to our breeding program we will be offering some of our other jennets for sale to keep our herd at a manageable number. We want to always be able to give each of our donkeys the individual attention that they so crave. Some of these jennets may be offered next spring with foals at their sides.

We have a total of 19 foals due in 2010: 5 of them are maidens & 3 of them were purchased already bred. The remaining 11 jennets that are due have not had a foal in over a year or longer. We have several jennets that we have not tested that may not be in foal for 2010. The jennets we are not positive about are: Valerie, Glorianna and Shimmy. We also exposed Gidget and Sweet Pea to our junior herd sire, Black 'n' Blue, for one cycle in September '09 but he may have been too young to get the job done...time will tell!

Jennets are lined up below in the order that we expect them to foal next or when they last foaled.

We purchased Summer from Wit's End Farm along with her best friend and half-sister, Strawberry. These jennets have never been separated. We love this jennet also and can't decide which one we like better! In fact they look so much alike that I had them confused with one another before I figured it out from carefully comparing their photos I had taken of them over the years! Summer is best friends with her half sister, Strawberry, and also with Bridget.

Summer is the dam of the following four foals:

1) Windcrest Sunrise Melody, 4/24/02, a dark red jennet;

Sailor is stocky, correct, and so very, very tiny! Sailor is a full sister to Bedazzled and Ma Bell. Sailor is now at Kathy Loudamy's being trained and shown.

Update! Sailor is home from Kathy's after three months of intensive training. She is now a perfect little lady and will trot beside you on command, side pass, back, etc. Money well spent. Sailor was shown at two shows while she was away and she placed 5th and 4th in her two classes and was a perfect little lady. We are very proud of our little Sailor. Thank you, Kathy, for a job well done! Photos above were taken on October 14th, 2008. Didn't Kathy do a great job of getting Sailor into show condition! Sailor did not really 'get into' being a show donkey. She is too laid back. You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get her ears and head up for her new photos. That's ok...she can live out her life here being nothing but a mom to her beautiful future babies! Sailor is bff with Romona.

Sailor was exposed to Napoleon for a foal due in 2010. This will be her first foal. We last observed her in season on April 27th, 2009.

Dam:  Gladybrooke Glorianna, 31" Very Dark Brown

      Grand Dam:  Heighmah's Chloe, 32" Gray-Dun

Bell was born one day before my retirement from 34 years of service with BellSouth Telecommunications Company. We named Bell in honor of this long awaited day. This is Glorianna's fourth foal and her fourth jennet in a row! Bell is a full sister to Bedazzled who was purchased by Nissen's Lazy N Ranch in The 2004 Great American Donkey Sale in Ohio. She is also a full sister to Hey Sailor, who we have retained in our herd. Bell has a beautiful tiny head and she is very stocky and stout.

Bell was sold as a weanling and we just recently purchased her when her previous owner went out of the donkey business. We have always regretted letting her go and we were so glad to have the opportunity to add her back to our herd. Bell was ultrasounded to be four months in foal by our vet on 7/24/09, but she is not getting any larger so we are having our doubts that she is actually in foal?? She should be due around the end of April 2010 if she is in foal. She was bred by her previous owner. Photos and information of the jack she was bred to will be posted soon. Photos and videos of Ma Bell taken on November 5th, 2009. Thank you to my new friend, Dena Wilson, for helping me take these fantastic photos of Ma Bell! Ma Bell is bff with her mom, Glorianna.

We purchased Tilly because she has been buddied up with Picabo for years and years and we just hate to separate best friends. We just love the Trenton line and Tilly is a daughter of Trenton. This line produces such great legs on their foals! Tilly is as sweet as they come and easy to catch if you can ever separate her from her best friend, Picabo, the race donkey. Tilly has black/brown spots that are so popular and she has a beautiful spot pattern. Tilly has wonderful conformation, and a beautiful short wide head. She has produced the following foals that we are aware of:

Windcrest Little Rio, 5/22/00, dark spotted jack;
Windcrest Autumn Sunrise, 9/18/01;
KKR ShowKase, 1/06/06, black jack;
KKR Gone Hollywood, 4/9/07, dark brown jennet;
KKR Fortune Cookie, 9/11/08, dark brown jennet.

Tilly is bred to Sunset Acres Rowdy Yates for a May 28th, 2010 foal. Photos and videos will be taken of Tilly soon! Tilly is bff with Picabo. Update 12/17/09! Thank you to The Randall Family for their expert assistance in handling Tilly during her photo shoot!!

We fell in love with Stardance when we were in Texas visiting Itsy Bitsy Burro Co and we just had to have her. She is just as sweet as she is beautiful! Stardance stays black all year round. She doesn't turn brown even when left out in the sun! Photos above were taken on July 10th, 2007. Stardance is bff with Monet.

Stardance has her first foal due in 2010. She is bred to Heiken's Ark Napoleon. We last observed her in season on 6/4/09.

Picabo was owned by our mentors, Ed & Linda Trimnell of Windcrest Acres, since she was a young foal and Linda considered her to be her best producing jennet. When Windcrest Acres went out of business due to health reasons Picabo was sold to Kathy Loudamy at K & K Ranch. Picabo produced many more champions while owned by Kathy and she would have never parted with her except that she was the hardest donkey to catch she had ever encountered. Since Kathy is usually always alone at the barn she offered her to me since my husband is retired and we do all of our donkey chores together. I have admired Picabo and her offspring thoughout all the years I have been involved in donkeys and I jumped at the chance to own such a fantastic little spotted donkey. I thought I would have no trouble training Miss Picabo to easily be caught.

Day one of owning her: I kept her in a stall and small paddock and gave her a treat every time I passed her but only if she would allow me to put the halter on her. I must have repeated this lesson no less than 50 times that day. Late that afternoon I turned Picabo out in a larger pasture since I was going to be gone all the next day. About an hour later I went to her pasture just to see if I could catch her. Well....... she ran like the wind  before I even got within 30' of her!! She was so far away that she could not have heard me saying 'cookie, cookie' if I had used a megaphone. A cowboy with a 500' rope could not have lassoed her!! I called Kathy and told her I wanted my money back. Kathy promptly told me that Picabo was my 'diet donkey' and she insisted I keep her so that I would be forced to lose weight. At this rate I should weigh about 100 lbs by this time next year. If you are ever this way please stop by for a visit and help me catch Miss Boo so I can worm her and do her little hooves occasionally. All help will be so appreciated. Just consider visiting Picabo and me instead of going to the gym. I will keep you posted on the continuing saga of  "Catch Me If You Can".

"Boo" has retained her great conformation through seven foals and due to her refusal to be caught easily. She is square and drafty and she is a long time producer of show quality donkeys with her same outstanding build. Boo has produced the following foals:

Windcrest Little Trinket, 6/16/98, a show winner;
Windcrest Little Chanelle, spotted jennet 6/2/00, a show winner;
Windcrest Sky's The Limit, 3/29/01, 2002 Grand National ACOSA Spotted Jack at the Eastern Nationals;
Windcrest Over the Top, 8/22/02, loud colored spotted jack foal ACOSA two & under National Champion & Reserve Champ;
Windcrest April Charm, 4/04/04, dark spotted jennet.
Windcrest Destiny, her 2005 jack foal, and a full brother to April Charm;
KKR Tuff Enough, 4/06/07, dark spotted jack with blue eyes;
KKR Eight Belles, gray jennet 8/16/08.

Picabo is bred to Sunset Acres Rowdy Yates for a September 14th, 2010 foal but I swear I don't know how he caught her..LOL!!! Boo is bff with Tilly.

Update 12/17/09! Thank you to The Randall Family for their expert assistance in handling Miss Boo during her photo shoot!! Now you can see why I love her even if she is hard to catch sometimes!

Valerie is very small, stout, and correct with a great rear end...very hard to find that combination in a spot. Photos above of Valerie were taken on August 6th, 2008, less than 24 hours after she delivered her last foal.

Update 10/20/09: We took Valerie to the vet's for an exterior ultrasound pregnancy check and they did not see a baby.

New update 10/28/09: Valerie came into a raging heat today so the ultrasound was correct and she was not in foal. We hand bred her to Firefly today for a foal due 10/28/10. Valerie is Firefly's winter time companion. We are just going to keep Valerie until we are positive that she is in foal again.
